To Serve and Protect

To Serve and Protect

Hero. A common term with a world of meaning. Who is your hero? Perhaps they’re a fireman, or a doctor or even a police officer. But what about our four legged friend? German Shepherds are the most prominent dog in the police force. The physical make-up of their bodies allows for them to perform with such speed but also carry with them an incredible amount of strength. These dogs also possess such a level of stamina that a human could never demonstrate. While I couldn’t find an exact number, German Shepherds go into the force as young as one year old and will stay until their body cannot physically endure all that the job entails. How many people do you know keep a job for their entire life? I know none. Now y’all may be thinking “it’s just the police force.” but that isn’t true. German Shepherds serve in the military as well. The use of dogs in war goes back as far as world war one. This is just one of the many reasons why German Shepherds deserve more praise than they receive.
