Beauregard Knows

The biggest thing that I have found is dogs NEED to be trained. It is so incredibly important for dogs to be trained. Beauregard, the Bouvier I live with, is totally trained and is so much fun to be around. I have been around many different dogs who are not trained. It is at times very difficult to sometimes stay with dogs who are not trained. They can get incredibly hyper and are sometimes difficult to calm down.

So what is the best answer for all of this? Spend time with your dog. Just like kids, dogs need attention also. It takes a lot of time to train dogs. Why not set a goal to teach your dog one command a month? This can be sit, stay or down. I would say start with sit. The best way that I have found to train a dog is to take two minutes or so out of your day. Focus on just your dog and work on the command of sit. Once your dog understands sit, give them a treat. That way when you do it again they will know if they sit they will get a treat.

Amazingly Beau knows all of these commands. He is also VERY good on walks. He is blind in one eye so sometimes he gets a little bit confused on exactly where we are going. So I guide him on the left side when we go on walks. He understands heel and also he slows down when we are about to walk across the street. He never pulls and is always enjoyable to take him out on walks. Take the time to train your dogs so all of your dogs can be like Beau.
